David Baumann, PhD

Research and Development Chemist at Frontier Specialty Chemicals

David Baumann, PhD, has a diverse work experience in the field of chemistry. David started as a Spinetagger at Kaplan Test Prep in May 2010 and then worked as a Researcher and PhD student at the University of Utah from August 2010 to July 2015, where they focused on the synthesis of bryostatin analogs and equipment repair. David then served as a Chemistry Consultant at RCS RMC from August 2007 to August 2016. Following this, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Utah College of Science from August 2015 to September 2016.

From October 2016 to June 2019, Dr. Baumann was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where they primarily worked on synthesizing organoactinide and lanthanide complexes, ligands, and their applications to organic synthesis. David also conducted research on peptoid-based chelating agents and new metal complexes for redox-flow batteries.

Dr. Baumann currently holds the position of Research and Development Chemist at Frontier Specialty Chemicals Inc., which they started in July 2019.

David Baumann, PhD, obtained their Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Southern Utah University, where they studied from 2007 to 2010. Subsequently, they pursued further education at the University of Utah, specializing in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. David successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in this field in 2015.
