Sergio Astigarraga

Sergio Astigarraga is an accomplished editorial manager with extensive experience in the biosciences and neuroscience research fields. Currently serving as Journal Portfolio Manager for Frontiers since July 2017, Sergio oversees the strategic development of a range of Open Access journals, supporting and guiding multiple Journal Managers and their teams. Previous roles at Frontiers include Journal Manager and Journal Development Manager for Pharmacology and Toxicology, where Sergio contributed to journal strategy and editorial board management. Prior to this, Sergio worked at NYU Langone Health as an Assistant Research Scientist and Post-doctoral fellow, focusing on axon targeting and synapse formation in Drosophila. Sergio's academic background includes a PhD in Genetics, an Advanced Studies Diploma in Developmental Genetics, and a Bachelor's degree in Biology, all obtained from Universitat de Barcelona.
