Awelani Rahulani

Awelani Rahulani is an accomplished professional in the financial sector with extensive experience in fintech and payment systems. Currently serving as the Head of Department: Fintech at the Financial Sector Conduct Authority since January 2020, Awelani has also held the role of Senior Fintech Specialist. Prior to this, from August 2005 to December 2019, Awelani worked at the South African Reserve Bank as a Senior National Payment Systems Analyst, focusing on policy and regulations, and also served as an Economist and Analyst. Awelani began the career at the Department of Public Enterprises as a Trainee from 2004 to 2005. Educational qualifications include an MCom in Competition and Economic Regulation from the University of Johannesburg, an Advanced Certificate in Emerging Markets and Political Risk Analysis from Fordham University, an MBA from the Management College of Southern Africa, and a BCom in Economics and Statistics from the University of Pretoria.
