David Benn

Senior Managing Director, Revenue Cycle Management at FTI Consulting

David Benn serves as the Revenue Cycle Management Practice leader within the Health Solutions practice. Mr. Benn has 25+ years of experience with a variety of national and local health systems, academic medical centers and physician group practices, assisting health care provider clients with their most complex problems to achieve their strategic and operational objectives. He has also worked with several private equity firms to acquire and turn around national providers such as hospital-based physicians, ambulance companies, home care, institutional pharmacies and physical therapy companies.

Mr. Benn has extensive revenue cycle experience, including leading several RCM turnaround projects resulting in 3%-5% net revenue improvement and hundreds of millions in cash acceleration. He has led several full-cycle RCM system implementations and optimized the RCM systems for various clients to increase automation and increase both efficiency and performance. He has designed and implemented Robotics Process Automation (RPA) in RCM and finance functions, providing additional automation and efficiencies to clients, while redesigning workflows to reduce the unnecessary manual intervention.

Mr. Benn has led several finance transformation projects across a wide range of functional areas, including RCM, financial close process, accounts payable and payroll. He has also designed and implemented comprehensive RCM analytics, including automated, leave-behind tools focused on KPIs and process controls.

With respect to private equity-owned portfolio companies, Mr. Benn has led several RCM diligence, integration and turnaround projects related to potential targets and acquisitions. With these clients, he has evaluated outsourced and offshore RCM functions, along with vendor arrangements and performance, to improve overall performance and a reduced cost-to-collect.

Mr. Benn holds a B.S. degree in Finance from Florida State University and a Masters in Hospital and Health Administration from Xavier University.
