Vera Carothers

Vera Carothers is a Fulbright Grantee currently engaged in study and research within the field of Creative Writing, focusing on a collection of reported essays related to political resistance in Argentina. Carothers is also a participant in the Fulbright-John Lewis Civil Rights Fellowship. Previously, Carothers served as a Senior Fact Checker and Fact Checker at The New Yorker, and held the position of Graduate Teaching Fellow for Nonfiction Writing at Columbia University. Other roles include Teaching Artist at The Moth, Online Nonfiction Editor for Columbia Journal, Producer and Writer for Family Ghosts, Assistant Producer at WNYC Radio, and Bilingual Mobile Facilitator at StoryCorps. Carothers possesses a Master of Fine Arts in Nonfiction Writing from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree from Brown University, complemented by a brief academic experience at Université Paris Cité.
