John Owen

Director, Security Analytics at Fulcrum Technology Solutions

John Owen has held a variety of roles in the technology field since 2008. John began as a Mathematics Researcher at Sam Houston State University, then moved on to IT Administrator for Able Ammo in 2010. In 2011, they held both a Network Security Analyst role for Aransas County and a Network Administrator and Technology Specialist role for Mathis Independent School District. In 2014, they worked as an IT Security Analyst for Paragon Offshore and a Network Support Analyst II for Driscoll Children's Hospital. From 2016 to 2019, they served as a Practice Manager - Data & Analytics and Sr. Security Consultant for Set Solutions, Inc. Since 2020, they have been the Executive Director of Next Gen Cyber Ed, a non-profit enabling cybersecurity education, and a Director of Security Analytics and Principal Consultant of Data & Analytics for Fulcrum Technology Solutions, LLC.

John Owen attended Sam Houston State University from 2007 to 2009 and obtained a degree in Digital Forensics, with a focus on Digital Forensics, Cryptography, Network Security, and Discrete Mathematics. John has also obtained additional certifications from the US Department of Homeland Security, Splunk, and EC-Council, including Introduction to Incident Command System, National Incident Management System (NIMS), Splunk Certified Architect, Splunk Certified Power User, Splunk Core Certified Consultant, Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin, Splunk Certified Developer, Splunk Accredited ES Implementation, and Certified Ethical Hacker.
