Christian Neckelmann has a diverse work experience spanning various fields. Christian started their career in 2008 as a Canvasser for the Los Angeles Homeless Services Coalition, where they raised funds for a homeless youth shelter. In 2009, they worked as a Research Assistant at UCLA, conducting surveys at a children's clinic. Christian then transitioned to the Mobile Clinic Project at UCLA, serving as a Caseworker for homeless and underserved populations, providing medical assistance and referrals.
In 2010, Christian worked as a Behavioral Therapist at STAR Inc., specializing in applied behavioral analysis techniques for autistic children. Christian also joined MEDomics that year as an Associate Scientist, focusing on mtDNA profiling and data interpretation for patients with mitochondrial diseases.
Christian continued their scientific career at MEDomics in 2011 as an Assistant Mitochondrial Medicine Scholar, further developing their expertise in genetic data analysis and interpretation.
Christian later joined the North American Research Institute in 2014 as a Clinical Research Coordinator, conducting clinical trials and patient assessments for various diseases.
From 2014 to 2017, Christian worked as a Clinical and Research Consultant at Fortanasce Neurology, where they administered examinations, developed neuropsychological interventions, and managed a clinical research study on dementia diagnosis.
In 2017, Christian started working at Fulgent Genetics as a Genetics Curation Scientist, responsible for variant curation and classification. Christian later became the Team Lead for carrier screening, overseeing a large team of curation scientists and guiding them in complex reporting scenarios.
Throughout their career, Christian has demonstrated expertise in molecular diagnostics, genetic variant analysis, patient care, and clinical research.
Christian Neckelmann attended Wilson High School and received a high school diploma. Christian then went on to attend UCLA from 2008 to 2010, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and International Development Studies. Later, they enrolled in a Postbaccalaureate Program at CSU Fullerton from 2012 to 2013.
