Darrell further specialized in Educational and Organizational Leadership and obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree from the University of the Cumberlands in 2016.

Darrell obtained a Teaching Certificate in Secondary Mathematics in 2009. Darrell also gained expertise in mental health by becoming a Mental Health First Aid Instructor through Mental Health First Aid US in 2019. Furthermore, Darrell obtained a University Supervision certification from the University of Kentucky in 2015. Darrell also holds a Camp Director Certificate from the American Camping Association, earned in 2015. Early in their career, they completed CPR and First Aid training with the American Red Cross in 2005.
Darrell is currently pursuing an Education Specialist degree in K-12 Public School Administration from Eastern Kentucky University, with an anticipated graduation date in 2022.
