Laura Fava

Laura Fava has a diverse work experience in the field of data science. Laura started their career as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Santa Cruz in 2010 and continued in that role until 2015. In 2015, they joined Insight Data Science as a Fellow, where they developed a web app called localfeel.net that recommended businesses to tourists based on their local flavor. During this role, they utilized various tools and technologies such as Python Splinter, Beautiful Soup, PostgreSQL, and Python Flask to parse and store data and build the application's front-end. Laura also integrated algorithms and data sources like OpenStreetMap and Yelp to provide users with directed recommendations. In 2015, Laura joined Fullpower Technologies as a Data Scientist and later progressed to the role of Senior Data Scientist in February 2020.

Laura Fava earned a Master's degree in Physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz between 2008 and 2010. Laura further pursued their education in the same field and successfully obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz between 2008 and 2015.
