Susan B.'s work experience includes a role as a Senior Research Analyst at Fullpower Technologies starting in 2013. Prior to that, they worked as a Docent at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center from 2009 to 2013. Susan also held the position of Program Specialist at The Tech Museum of Innovation from 2001 to 2002, where they developed science and technology education programs and instructed biology and chemistry laboratories. Before that, they worked as a Research Associate at the Hydro-Optics, Biology, and Instrumentation Laboratories from 1999 to 2001, collecting and analyzing oceanographic data. From 1998 to 1999, they worked as a Chemist Consultant at the Getty Conservation Institute, conducting materials analysis for the preservation of Mayan ruins. Susan began their career as a Graduate Research/Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Santa Barbara from 1991 to 1998, where they participated in research cruises and analyzed deep-sea hydrothermal vent fluids and sulfide minerals.
Susan B. obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Microbiology, General from The Ohio State University from 1984 to 1988. Susan then pursued higher education at UC Santa Barbara from 1991 to 1998, where they completed a PhD in Marine Geology and Geochemistry.
