Portfolio Manager - Donation Unit at Funbio - Fundo Brasileiro para a Biodiversidade

Mariana Santos, PMP, MBA, currently serves as a Portfolio Manager in the Donation Unit at the Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (FUNBIO) since August 2023. Prior to this role, Mariana was a Specialist in Program & Project Management at BNY Mellon from September 2019 to June 2023, where responsibilities included co-chairing the new business approval committee and overseeing the Asset Servicing area. Mariana's extensive experience also includes roles as Project, Process & Strategy Manager at Rede D'Or São Luiz, and various senior positions at BTG Pactual, where project management and financial governance were key focuses. Early career positions were held at KPMG, IP Capital Partners, Arthur Andersen & Co., and BBM Bank. Mariana holds an MBA in Project Management from FGV - Fundação Getulio Vargas, as well as bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Economics.

The Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (Funbio) is an innovative financial mechanism created to drive the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Brazil. Active since 1996, Funbio was created by a multidisciplinary group consisting of representatives from the Federal Government, academia, civil society and the business world on the strength of a USD 20 million donation from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
