We are delighted to welcome you to Funken Lodge, our oasis in the Arctic wilderness. We know that you will quickly realise why this hotel has become a favourite with visitors to Svalbard. The atmosphere in the hotel invites you to sink your shoulders after a day of outdoor experiences. Relax in a cosy chair in front of the fireplace, and retrace the steps of Polar heroes in a book from our library. Or perhaps one of our signature cocktails from Funken Bar?
All of the rooms and public areas are delightfully furnished, and our friendly team help to create the perfect stay.
If the hotel's walls could speak, they would share stories of both elegant and boisterous gatherings under the coal mining heydays, of Champagne tastings in det Gamle Nordpolet, and fascinating discussions held in the salons. The hotel has been a home away from home for both royals and heads of state, and has kept its renommé from when it was home to the mining company's office staff.
New histories and tall tales are ready to be told - and remembered by the hotel's walls - welcome to Funken Lodge!
