Martin Downes

Martin Downes is an experienced general manager with a career spanning over two decades in the management of large venues and events. Currently serving as General Manager at Rochford District Council since July 2014, Martin oversees budget control and general management for two of the area's largest venues. Previous roles include General Manager at Virgin Active, where responsibilities mirrored those at Rochford, and a similar position at Holmes Place, which included organizing significant events such as one of the largest Beer Festivals in the region. Earlier career highlights include managing operations at Liesure Connection and gaining experience in sales and hospitality at House of Frazer and Allied Domecq.
