Daniel Berrick

Policy Counsel at Future of Privacy Forum

Daniel Berrick, JD, is a Policy Counsel at the Future of Privacy Forum. His work involves analyzing complex consumer and commercial privacy law issues, from technology-specific areas such as advertising practices, drones, wearables, connected cars, and student privacy, to general data management and privacy issues related to ethics, de-identification, algorithms, and the Internet of Things. In this role, Daniel also collaborates with industry, peers, and the wider privacy community to identify and develop best practices for data privacy.

A recent graduate of Duke University School of Law, Daniel is excited and committed to pursuing a career in privacy and cybersecurity law. At Duke, he became interested in technology law issues after taking a course with General Charlie Dunlap, where he analyzed whether cyber attacks against undersea cables represented a violation of international law. Daniel cultivated a richer understanding of privacy and cybersecurity law in his classes on US privacy law, data breach response and cybersecurity law, artificial intelligence and robotics law, and cyber law and policy. In the spring of his third year, Daniel participated in the First Amendment Clinic and learned how to assist clients in navigating restrictions placed on their speech online.
