Alawi Assaggaf has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Alawi began their career in 2008 as a Networking and Computing Administrator Assistant at Carleton University's Physics Department, where they provided IT support and managed the faculty website. In 2010, they worked as a Database Analyst/Developer at the Micronutrient Initiative, studying and analyzing data and developing databases using SQL and ASP.
In the same year, Alawi also worked as a Web Developer at Carleton University's Student Affairs Office, where they developed user-friendly web forms using Quanta Plus and Dreamweaver, and modified back-end and PDF-creator functionalities using MySQL/PHP. Alawi additionally worked as a Database Programmer at Carleton University's International Student Services Office, further expanding their skills in database management.
In 2011, Alawi founded and served as the President of the Gentler and Softer Hearts Humanitarian Group. In this role, they supervised coordinators and made decisions, built productive teams, and continuously improved the group's performance and management until 2017.
From 2012 to 2016, Alawi worked at Pythian as a MySQL Database Consultant, providing expertise and consulting services. Alawi also served as the Chair of the Ottawa Robotics Competition at IEEE from 2012 to 2014, leading the organization of the competition.
Alawi also held leadership positions in extracurricular organizations during their time at Carleton University. Alawi served as the President of the Carleton University Robotics Club from 2010 to 2012, overseeing club activities and executives, promoting communication between teams, and directing club activities towards achieving goals. Alawi was also the Signage Team Lead for IEEE's ICC in 2012.
In 2016, Alawi joined Fuze as a Database Engineer, where they currently apply their skills and expertise in database management.
Alawi Assaggaf obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University, where they studied from 2007 to 2012. Before that, they pursued Electronics Engineering Technology - Communications at Seneca College for a brief period in 2006. In addition, Alawi Assaggaf obtained a certification in Learning Kubernetes from LinkedIn in December 2020.
