Craig is a partner of Lavan, an independent law firm in Perth operating in association with Gadens.

Craig specialises in all aspects of town planning and environmental law as it pertains to property development and land use.

Craig has almost 20 years’ experience in his specialism working in local government, central government, boutique regeneration firms and large multi-disciplinary law practices in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Craig has experience in a wide range of matters for developer and government clients including providing advice on all aspects of developments and subdivision approvals, environmental approvals (both State and Federal), advice on strategic framework and policy documents, advocacy at all levels of the decision making process in a planning and environmental context and the conduct of statutory appeals to the State Administrative Tribunal / Supreme Court (planning matters) and the Office of the Appeals Convenor / Supreme Court (environmental matters).

Craig has also had the conduct of environmental and planning due diligence for significant corporate transactions and has defended prosecutions in the Magistrates Court brought under both the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Planning and Development Act 2005.

Craig has a particular interest in the regeneration of contaminated land and has advised on all aspects of the Contaminated Sites Act 2003, including the conduct of litigation in the Supreme Court in relation to determinations of responsibility made by the Contaminated Sites Committee.

Craig is part of a wider aged care focus group at Lavan seeking to support the varying aspects of the aged care industry including the acquisition of land, procuring the relevant approvals for aged care facilities and the ongoing efficient management of those facilities for aged care providers.
