Paul is a partner of Lavan, an independent law firm in Perth operating in association with Gadens.
Paul has been in specialist legal practice for over 25 years and is a recognised leader in the areas of town planning, environmental and land compensation law. Paul is a General Counsel at Lavan and a partner in the Planning, Environment and Land Compensation team.
Paul is admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in both the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.
The nature of Paul’s practice involves providing both court representation and strategic advice concerning the acquisition and development of land in a WA context.
He advises on all aspects of the approval and implementation of development and subdivision proposals, conducts compensation claims, planning and environmental appeals to the State Administrative Tribunal and provides strategic advice and representation in Supreme Court and Federal Court Judicial Review proceedings related to planning and environmental matters.
In addition, Paul accepts instructions as counsel in Construction and Property litigation.
Paul is a former lecturer in planning law at the University of Western Australia Law School.
Paul’s industry involvement includes his appointment as an honorary fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia, chairman of the UDIA EnviroDevelopment Board and former State Councillor of UDIA.
