Bob Houston has over 50 years of work experience, starting with their role as a Captain in the US Army from 1969 to 1971. Bob then joined GAI Consultants, Inc. in 1974 and held the position of Vice President Environmental and Energy Services. In this role, Bob was responsible for directing client services delivery, business development, quality assurance, staff development, client relations, and overall corporate organization. Bob also served as the Energy Client Sector Director and Environmental Practice Leader for the Corporation. Bob held a former Member of the Board of Directors position at GAI Consultants, Inc.

Bob Houston's education history begins in 1962 when they attended Wilkinsburg High School, where they did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study. From 1965 to 1969, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Zoology at Penn State University. Subsequently, they enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh from 1971 to 1975, working toward a PhD in Ecology and Biogeochemistry, though it is noted as being All But Dissertation (abd). Finally, in 2009, Bob attended Harvard Business School for the Harvard Leadership Development Program, focusing on the Harvard Executive Leadership Program.
