Upendra Kumar Sinha is a leading authority on Indian capital markets and corporate governance in India. In his recent role, he headed the RBI Expert Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Prior to this, he was the Chairman of the SEBI, having served two consecutive three-year terms, starting in 2011. He was also the Chairman and Managing Director of UTI Mutual Fund. Prior to this, he served as the Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and Joint Secretary in the banking division of the Ministry of Finance dealing with financial institutions. He was selected for the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), the premier civil service in India, in 1976.
