Rob Slack, FRSB

Vice President & Head of Pharmacology at Galecto

Rob Slack, FRSB, has a diverse and extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Rob is currently serving as the Vice President & Head of Pharmacology at Galecto, Inc. since December 2018. In this role, Rob manages Galecto's research activities, develops strategies, and generates translational pharmacology data to support drug discovery programs. Rob also oversees pre-clinical and clinical biomarker development and evaluation.

Previously, Rob worked at GSK for 15 years from January 2003 to December 2018. Within the Fibrosis DPU as the Head of Translational Pharmacology, they focused on delivering new medicines for organ fibrosis. Rob was responsible for driving strategies, coordinating resources, and progressing projects and assets towards clinical testing. Their role involved leveraging platforms and assay capabilities to select drug candidates, model clinical doses, and measure target engagement in patients to achieve robust outcomes.

Additionally, in October 2018, Rob became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, further showcasing their expertise and contributions to the field.

Rob Slack, FRSB holds a degree in MPharmacol (Hons) with a specialization in Pharmacology from the University of Bath. Rob later pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pharmacology at the University of Strathclyde.
