Michael Athanas

Michael Athanas has a diverse work experience spanning various technology roles. Michael currently serves as the Vice President of Technology at Galvanize Climate Solutions since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at NextGen America as the Director of Technology from 2019 to 2022, where they were responsible for procuring, deploying, and securing IT hardware and software for a dispersed staff. Michael also ensured staff's adherence to security best practices and implemented appropriate technologies into program plans.

Before that, Michael held roles at Fahr LLC, where they served as the Director of Technology, Rising from 2019 to 2019, and as the Technology Operations Manager from 2016 to 2019. At COBALTIX, they worked as a Network Engineer in 2015. Michael also gained experience at Virginia Tech as a Senior IT Specialist from 2014 to 2015 and as a Systems Analyst from 2013 to 2014.

In addition to these positions, Michael has worked as an Owner/Consultant at Dash Digital Solutions LLC from 2012 to 2015, as a FoxGuard Engineering Technician at FoxGuard Solutions, Inc. from 2012 to 2013, and as an Engineering Technician at CCS-Inc. from 2010 to 2012.

Michael began their career in the technology field as a Student Technology Council Coordinator at Virginia Tech from 2010 to 2011 and as a Secondary Technology Support Technician at Palm Beach County School District from 2009 to 2010.

Michael Athanas attended Virginia Tech from 2006 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering. In addition to their degree, they also acquired several certifications. In December 2014, they earned the Network Technology Associate certification from CIW. Furthermore, in October 2014, they obtained the Certified Internet Business Associate certification, also from CIW. Finally, Michael obtained the Network+ certification from CompTIA in May 2015.
