Greg Sturge

Director of Strategy (EMEA) at GameDay

Greg Sturge has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the sports industry. Greg is currently serving as the Director of Strategy (EMEA) at GAMEDAY since December 2020. Prior to this, they worked as the Head of Strategy (EMEA) from January to December 2020 and as a Sports Industry Specialist Consultant at GAMEDAY from July 2019 to January 2020.

In 2020, Greg also took up the position of Non-Executive Director at Snowsport England, a role they still hold. Previously, they worked at Sport England as a Partner Support Manager from August 2018 to June 2019. In this role, they were responsible for managing partner relations and multimillion-pound investments with 50 Core Market partners, as well as identifying and soliciting new impactful investments for sport and physical activity participation in England.

Before joining Sport England, Greg held multiple roles at British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) from August 2014 to July 2018. These roles included Hockey Development Manager, Team GBR HQ Administrator, Small Sided Hockey Manager, and BUCS Intern and Acting Event Coordinator. During their time at BUCS, Greg successfully delivered a Sport England funded project to increase participation and retention in hockey.

Earlier in their career, Greg worked at Leeds University Union as an Activities Officer from June 2013 to July 2014. In this role, they led the Student Union, developed university clubs and societies, secured funding for club development, managed sports competitions, and supported infrastructure investments. Greg also served as a Sports Representative from May 2011 to May 2013, aiding the development and representation of sports clubs.

Greg's work experience also includes a brief role as a Trainee Safari Ranger at EcoTraining in April and May 2010, as well as a position as Tours and Recruitment Assistant at Bristol Grammar School from September 2009 to March 2010.

Greg Sturge attended the University of Leeds from 2010 to 2013, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History and Sociology. Prior to that, they attended Bristol Grammar School from 2002 to 2009. Additionally, Greg has obtained a certification as an EcoTraining Safari Guide from EcoTraining, although the specific dates of when they obtained this certification are unknown.
