Nancy Barnes

Director Of Branch Libraries at Garfield County Libraries

Nancy Barnes has a significant amount of work experience in the library field. Nancy began their career at Mesa County Libraries, where they held positions as the Head of Technology & Automation from September 2006 to August 2008 and as the Head of Information Services from August 2008 to January 2011. After that, they worked at the Colorado State Library as a Technology Trainer from January 2011 to December 2012. Nancy then moved on to serve as the Executive Director of Gunnison County Libraries from January 2013 to July 2017. Following this, they joined Bemis Public Library, where they held the roles of Adult Services Supervisor from an unknown start date to November 2020 and Deputy Director from January 2019 to November 2020. Their most recent position was as the Director of the Littleton-Bemis Public Library, where they oversaw library operations, managed the budget, and administered the research database collection. Nancy also managed the library webpages and LibGuides CMS content. Currently, they are serving as the Director of Branch Libraries at Garfield County Libraries, starting in March 2023.

Nancy Barnes has a solid education background, having attained a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from Colorado Mesa University in the years 1998 to 2002. Nancy then pursued their passion for literature further by obtaining a Masters of English Literature from Kansas State University, where they studied from 2002 to 2004. To expand their knowledge and expertise, Nancy decided to pursue a Master's in Library Science at Emporia State University, specializing in Public Libraries, from 2006 to 2009. Through their education, Nancy has developed a strong foundation in English literature and a deep understanding of the library science field.
