Gary Smith, Ph.D., is a quantitative social scientist focused on leveraging large data to analyze geopolitical security issues. They have utilized natural language processing to investigate the influence of world leaders on civil wars, political violence, and interstate conflict. Currently a Principal in Quantitative Analytics and Data Science at Gartner, Gary is transitioning from academia to the private sector to apply their expertise in international security and data analysis. They have earned a Ph.D. in International Relations and National Security Studies from the University of Central Florida and have held various positions in education and research throughout their career.
