Mike Lowndes is the Sr. Director, Analyst at Gartner. Mike has over 20 years of experience in web development and ecommerce architecture. Mike has been with Gartner for 4 years and has played a pivotal role in transforming the company as they scale up and aim for industry leadership.

Lowndes began their career in 1998 as the Interactive Media Manager at The Natural Theirtory Museum. Mike was with the museum for 9 years before moving on to Which? where they served as the Online Architect for 6 years. In 2007, they also became a Committee Member of the Museums Computer Group where they served for 4 years.

In October 2013, Lowndes became the Web and Ecommerce Architect of Travelodge Hotels Limited. Mike led a programme of performance improvements in May 2014 and was responsible for the implementation of Akamai in May 2014. Mike also developed a new platform architecture and rollout plan in August 2014. The new platform was launched in January 2016 and is currently being rolled out incrementally. Lowndes is also responsible for evangelising Agile within the company and has successfully implemented a Jenkins CI in AWS with codeception, phing and ansible. Mike has also introduced NGINX and Mongo within the company and Symfony as the php framework.

Mike Lowndes has a PhD in Learning and Memory - Neuroscience from The Open University, a BSc in Biology from Bangor University, and a Bachelor of Science - BS in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Bangor University.
