Mitchell Wnek began their work experience in 2015 as part of the ESL Refugee Action Support Program at Mount Druitt Public School. In 2017, they interned as a Communications Intern at Mahboba's Promise. From 2018 to 2019, they worked as a Public Relations Consultant at Ethical Strategies, where they managed public relations for pharmaceutical companies and healthcare campaigns. Since 2019, Mitchell has been working at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, starting as a Marketing and Communications Coordinator and progressing to Senior Marketing and Communications Coordinator. Currently, they hold the position of Content Marketing Officer at the same institute. In this role, their responsibilities include developing and implementing social media strategies, measuring the success of campaigns, managing social media content, and serving as a point of liaison between various stakeholders for executing photoshoots, video creation, and animation. Additionally, they are involved in writing and disseminating internal communications via various channels.
Mitchell Wnek has a Master's degree in Communication Management from the University of Technology Sydney, which they obtained from 2017 to 2018. Prior to their Master's degree, they completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a major in Education and a minor in Cultural and Social Analysis at Western Sydney University. Mitchell also holds a Diploma of Social Science from the same university. In terms of additional certifications, Mitchell completed the Data Pass Course at ADMA in December 2022. Mitchell also obtained the Experienced Marketers Course: Social Media ROI from the Centre for Continuing Education in March 2020. In August 2019, they completed the Social Media Course Sydney 2019 at Media School Australia. Additionally, in April 2018, they attended the Writing and Pitching to Journalists Workshop offered by AAP Medianet.
