Maarten Buijs has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Maarten started their career as an Entertainment Manager in the camping industry in 1994 and 1995. Maarten then became the owner of B.R.O.M. Entertainment from 1995 to 1996. In 1996, they worked as a trainee at Hotelplan Internationale Reisorganisatie B.V. and a year later, they worked as a trainee at Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Airport.

In 1997, Maarten returned to Hotelplan Internationale Reisorganisatie B.V. as a Representative until 2005. During this time, they also served as a Contract Manager Wintersport from 2001 to 2001, where they were responsible for contracting hotels and managing partner relationships.

From 2007 to 2012, Maarten worked as a Destination Manager at TUI, where they were in charge of planning, training, and evaluating representatives and overseeing entertainment teams. Maarten also handled destination budgeting and reporting to head office.

In 2015, Maarten joined Grand Circle Corporation as a Cruise Director (Program Director), where they took ownership of product delivery and customer satisfaction for the entire cruise program. Maarten was responsible for onboard announcements, briefings, port talks, presentations, and entertainment. Maarten also arranged shore tours and oversaw commentary delivery.

Currently, since 2019, Maarten works at Gate 1 Travel as a Cruise Director. Maarten continues to ensure product delivery and customer satisfaction for the cruise program, making onboard announcements, briefings, and presentations. Maarten also arranges shore tours.

Maarten Buijs began their education at The Gerardus School in Roelofarendsveen from 1981 to 1987. Maarten then attended Senior High School Visser 't Hooft Lyceum HAVO in Leiden from 1987 to 1993, where they obtained their HAVO degree studying subjects such as Nederlands, Engels, Duits, Aardrijkskunde, Wiskunde B, and Natuurkunde.
