Jordi Mata-Fink

Jordi Mata-Fink has a diverse range of work experience in the biotech and healthcare industries. Jordi is currently the Co-Founder and CEO of Gate Bioscience, a position they have held since July 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Consultant in the Biotech, Healthcare, & Medicine industry starting in November 2019. In addition, they co-founded Stealth Biotech NewCo in January 2021, and was part of the founding team at Generate Biomedicines, Inc. from January 2018 to December 2020.

From 2013 to 2019, Jordi held various roles at Flagship Pioneering, including Principal, Senior Associate, and Associate. Jordi also founded and served as the Chief Technology Officer of Cygnal Therapeutics from August 2016 to September 2019. Earlier in their career, they were the Founder and Director of Discovery at Rubius Therapeutics from November 2013 to June 2017, and a founding team member at Editas Medicine from April 2013 to February 2014.

Jordi's academic background includes a doctoral candidacy at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from September 2006 to December 2012, where they specialized in protein engineering techniques for vaccines and immunotherapies. Jordi also participated in the Flagship Ventures VentureLabs Entrepreneuring Fellowship program in June-August 2012. Overall, Jordi's experience spans entrepreneurial ventures, consulting, and research and development in the biotech field.

Jordi Mata-Fink pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University from 2001 to 2005. Following this, they went on to complete a Master of Science (MS) degree in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University in 2006. From 2006 to 2012, Jordi continued their education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering.
