Amy General has a diverse range of work experience. Amy started their career as a Homebound Teacher in the Hamburg School District, where they taught elementary special education students who were unable to attend school in the regular building setting. Amy then moved on to work as an Outpatient Access Specialist at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where they were responsible for answering phone calls and processing billing in the psychiatric emergency department. Amy then transitioned to a role as a Substitute Teacher at both the Brockport Central School District and the Holley Central School District. In these positions, they filled in for absent teachers and provided instruction to students. After that, they joined the Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES as a Special Education Teacher, working with students on the Autism Spectrum and overseeing a team of teacher assistants and student behavioral assistants. Most recently, Amy has been working as a Special Education Teacher at the Gates Chili Central School District. Throughout their roles, they have demonstrated strong leadership skills, effective communication, and a commitment to meeting the individual needs of their students.
Amy General's education history is as follows:
From 2001 to 2004, they attended Roberts Wesleyan University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching.
In 2007, they enrolled at Tennessee Technological University and completed a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Instructional Leadership in 2008.
In the same year, Amy continued their studies at Tennessee Technological University and earned an Educational Specialist (EdS) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General in 2009.
Amy then pursued further education at Niagara University from 2016 to 2017 and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General.
In terms of certifications, Amy General has been certified by the New York State Department of Education. Amy obtained the certification for Elementary Teacher Grades 1-6 in May 2004, Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6 in July 2011, and School Building Leader & School District Leader in January 2016.
