Cindy Wilson

Special Education Teacher at Gates Chili Central School District

Cindy Wilson has a diverse work experience in the education field. Cindy began their career in 1999 as a Grant Coordinator for the School Community Partnership Council. In 2000, they transitioned to working as an Educational Assistant and Substitute Teacher in the Pittsford Schools district. From 2014 to 2015, they served as a Special Education Teacher in both the K-1 Developmental Primary Program and as a Learning Specialist. In 2015, they joined the Spencerport Central School District as a Special Education Teacher until 2016. Currently, they are working at the Gates Chili Central School District as a Special Education Teacher in a multi-grade self-contained classroom. Throughout their career, Cindy has demonstrated skills in classroom management, specially designed instruction, and collaborating with school-based teams. Cindy is also a strong advocate for students and believes in utilizing a team-based approach to build on their strengths.

Cindy Wilson obtained their M.S. degree in Special Education with a focus on Childhood and Special Education from St. John Fisher College. This degree was earned between 2012 and 2014. Prior to that, Cindy attended Clarkson University, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Distribution/EECE, although the specific years of attendance are not provided. Additionally, Cindy attended the State University of New York College at Potsdam, but the degree obtained and field of study are unknown.

In terms of certifications, Cindy obtained several from NYSED (New York State Education Department), including Students with Disabilities birth - grade 2 certification in July 2018. Cindy also obtained Early Childhood Education birth-2 certification in October 2014, Childhood Education 1-6 certification, and Students with Disabilities 1-6 certification, both in May 2014. Additionally, Cindy holds certifications in Mental Health First Aid from the National Council for Behavioral Health in December 2013, as well as Non-violent Crisis Prevention & Intervention from the Crisis Prevention Institute in October 2013.
