Jay Heins has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Jay began their career in 2001 at Macromedia, where they worked as a Designer, Developer, and Writer in the Education and Government Solutions Marketing department. Jay then went on to work at Queen's University as a Course Designer and Developer for a brief period in 2005. Following this, they joined Thomson Learning as a Site Designer in the Higher Education Division. In 2006, they joined Dell as a Consultant in Global Commercial Marketing, Services, Education & Training. In the same year, they also started working at Adobe Systems, where they held multiple roles such as Designer, Developer, and Consultant in Education Marketing, as well as a Product Manager for Accessibility. In 2012, they joined the Pearson Foundation as a Pearson Projector and Mermaid, where they collaborated with the Numen team to develop a content management system for teachers. Finally, in 2013, they joined Gates Ventures as an Art Director and Production Lead, where they were responsible for designing and producing content for the Big History Project. Prior to all this, in 1998, Jay co-founded Numen Communications Inc., a consulting company specializing in visual communication design for education markets.
Jay Heins obtained a Diploma in Professional Cookery from the Stratford Chefs School from 1994 to 1996. Prior to that, they attended the University of Ottawa from 1990 to 1994 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) with a focus on Sculpture and Multimedia. Before pursuing their BFA, Heins completed their Pre-university study at CEGEP - Heritage College from 1987 to 1989, where they received a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DCS).
