Jon McCartney, RSE has a diverse experience in the food and beverage industry, spanning over several years. Jon started their career in 1998 as an Assistant Manager at Red Robin Restaurants of Canada and then moved on to work at Earls Kitchen + Bar as an Assistant Restaurant Manager and Sous Chef from 2003 to 2008. In 2008, they joined Great Canadian Gaming Corporation as an Executive Sous Chef and F&B Outlets Manager, where they stayed until 2013. During their time at Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, they also took on the role of Executive Chef at Grand Villa Casino. From 2013 to 2016, McCartney took on the position of an Executive Chef at Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited and then progressed to become the Executive Manager of Food & Beverage Operations. From 2016 to 2018, they served as the Regional Manager of Food & Beverage for both British Columbia and Alberta at Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited. Recently, they have been working as the Director of Corporate Food & Beverage for Western Canada at Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited since 2018.
Jon McCartney, RSE, obtained a Red Seal Trade Certification from Vancouver Community College (VCC) in 2011. Prior to that, they completed an Associate of Arts degree in Culinary Arts/Chef Training from the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in 2002. Jon also holds a Diploma in Honors Accounting/Business Management from Pacific Academy, which they received in 2001. Additionally, Jon has obtained several certifications including WSET Level 2, Red Seal Professional Cook, Food Safe Level 2, Serving It Right, Accident Investigation, Certified Designated Trainer/Regional Management Trainer, and Food Safe Level 1.
