Melanie Townsend is a seasoned civil engineer with extensive experience in bridge and structural engineering. Currently serving as the Lead Bridge Engineer at GBA since April 2022, Melanie oversees bridge design, plan production, and load ratings, with a focus on projects in Kansas and Missouri. Prior roles include Structural Engineer at Hg Consult, Inc. from September 2013 to March 2022, contributing to the design of bridges and transportation structures, as well as positions at Genesis Structures and HNTB, where Melanie developed skills in construction phase design and bridge design for various clients. Melanie began professional engineering career at Wilson & Company, Inc., focusing on municipal projects, and has a solid foundation in bridge engineering from earlier work with HNTB. Melanie holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Kansas.
