For Mick, building strong teams makes for great buildings. He leads teams that advance design, work collectively, and find the hidden opportunities that help clients achieve their goals. Flexible and adaptable, he is equally at home managing complex new projects like the University of Pittsburgh’s Hillman Library and Swanson School of Engineering or revitalizing a treasured public resource like the Braddock Carnegie Library. Mick is passionate about creating a community of design—on projects, in neighborhoods, and within the architecture industry. He works to bring new and diverse perspectives into the fold through GBBN’s Design Issues Series, the National Organization of Minority Architects Pittsburgh (NOMAPGH), and staff mentoring. Mick credits his grandmother for fostering his fascination with architecture. Together, they explored the buildings of downtown Pittsburgh to experience hidden spaces or take in fantastic views. Her open, curious nature informs Mick’s inquisitive approach and inspires him to bring impact to every project.
