Director General Of The GCC Patent Office (gccpo) at The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC)

Ahmed Almarshadi is the Director General of The GCC Patent Office (GCCPO) at the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) since January 2024. Previously, Ahmed held multiple roles at the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) from February 2018 to January 2024, including Executive Director of the CEO Office and Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships, where a key project involved building the international cooperation network of SAIP. Prior to that, Ahmed was with the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) from January 2006 to February 2020, serving as a Patent Specialist and Deputy Manager of the Patent Information Unit, focusing on Saudi Arabia's Global Innovation Index ranking. Ahmed also contributed to the General Authority for Statistics as a member of the GII Committee and holds a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics from King Saud University, alongside training in Intellectual Property from WIPO Academy.

The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC)

The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) was founded on 25th of May 1981 following a historical meeting (in Abu Dhabi) of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the heads of states of the United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, State of Qatar and State of Kuwait. The GCC main objectives are (1) to effectively enhance coordination, integration and interconnectivity among member states in all fields with the aim of achieving unity. (2) Deepening and strengthening existing inter-relations and ties among their people in all aspects (3) Formulating similar laws and regulations in various fields; including economic and financial affairs, commerce, customs and communications, education and culture, social and health affairs, information and tourism, legislative and administrative affairs. (4) Promoting scientific and technological progress in the fields of industry, mining, agriculture, water and animal resources; as well as establishing scientific research centers, joint integration projects, and encouraging cooperation among the private sectors of the member states.
