Ernesto A. Perez Jr.

Ernesto Perez is a Principal of GDS and currently works within the Power Supply Services department at GDS Associates, Inc. As an energy consultant he has assisted various municipals, electric cooperatives, and generation / transmission entities develop power supply solutions for their unique needs. Previous projects include integrated resource plans (IRPs), competitive request for proposal (RFPs) market solicitations, capacity & energy market hedging strategies, environmental compliance feasibility studies, production cost modeling & resource acquisition studies, purchased power arrangement value assessments & negotiations, asset valuation calculations, and regular market participation reporting across multiple RTOs.

Mr. Perez currently serves as the Project Lead to the City of Tallahassee in their dual Integrated Resource and Clean Energy Plans. This project will set a roadmap to achieve 100% clean energy by 2050 as per the Clean Energy Resolution adopted by the City in 2019 and is a multi-year, multi-firm project with a community stakeholder engagement component. Mr. Perez is also actively involved, and holds a voting position, within SPP’s Supply Adequacy Working Group (SAWG). Southwest Power Pool created the working group four years ago to address resource adequacy and reliability concerns within the footprint including the continued proliferation of renewable resources on the system. In 2017, Mr. Perez managed the development of the operating budget and power billing systems on behalf of a merger of three G&Ts in East Texas which collectively represent revenues in excess of $300 million dollars.
