Ronald Fernandez has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. Ronald started their career as a Co-Op at Beckman Coulter in 2009. Ronald then joined GE Appliances in 2010, where they completed the Edison Engineering Development Program and served as a Design Engineer. Ronald worked on various platforms, including Side by Side and Bottom Freezer, and was responsible for designing features such as Fresh Food shelves, freezer bins, and LED lighting.
In 2013, Ronald transitioned to GE, where they worked as a Production Engineer. Ronald was responsible for executing design projects aimed at improving profitability and addressing production issues in the Bottom Freezer Refrigeration plant. Ronald also collaborated with the New Product Implementation teams to ensure smooth production for new designs.
Returning to GE Appliances in 2015, Ronald took on the role of Lead Production Engineer, leading the implementation of engineering digit changes for AP5 refrigeration. Ronald managed program schedules and coordinated with engineers to meet milestones for projects such as door top hinges, water line cost outs, and structural stiffener redesigns.
Ronald's career progressed within GE Appliances, and they became a Lead Design Engineer in 2016. In this role, they led the design and development of the "Door-in-Door" model's outer door assembly. Ronald worked closely with production and manufacturing teams to optimize assembly and successfully introduce new models into production.
In 2018, Ronald was promoted to Senior Design Engineer, where they led a global team of quality engineers responsible for tracking and implementing projects to meet Cost of Quality (COQ) and Damage targets for Refrigeration products. Ronald worked on root-cause analysis, design improvements, project schedules, and evaluation plans.
Continuing their growth within the company, Ronald took on the role of Engineering Program Senior Manager in 2019. Ronald served as both a program manager and design manager for the development of innovative smart home appliances. Ronald managed a team, program budget, and program reviews while collaborating with third-party partners.
Furthermore, Ronald demonstrated leadership skills as the Hispanic Forum (ERG) Leader at GE Appliances. Ronald managed a forum with 155 members and eight committee leaders, overseeing the development of events and employee mentoring programs to meet Professional Development, Networking, Community Service, and Attract goals.
Currently, Ronald holds the position of Engineering Director - Operations and Design at GE Appliances, a Haier company, starting in October 2021. With their extensive experience and diverse roles, they have contributed significantly to engineering projects, program management, and professional development initiatives throughout their career.
Ronald Fernandez earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida from 2005 to 2009. Ronald then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisville from 2011 to 2014.
