Ray Klein has extensive experience in industrial design and product development. Ray began their career as a draftsman at Apace Design, where they gained valuable experience outside of the academic design environment. Ray then worked as an industrial designer at Brooks Stevens, Inc., focusing on product aesthetics and function across various business sectors.
In 2000, Klein joined Johnson Outdoors Inc. as a Senior Industrial Designer in the Advanced Concepts Group. Ray played a pivotal role in bolstering the new product pipeline for all four business units and provided internal industrial design resources to accelerate product development.
After their time at Johnson Outdoors, Klein briefly worked as a Senior Industrial Designer at Master Lock Company. Ray then returned to Johnson Outdoors as a Senior Industrial Designer in the Watercraft division. In this role, they worked closely with management and marketing to develop and execute product strategies, managing all phases of development from concept to market.
In 2013, Klein founded Klein Product Development, where they served as the President and Lead Designer until 2016. Finally, they joined GEAR AID in 2016 as the Design Director, although no end date is specified. Overall, Ray Klein has consistently contributed their skills and expertise to the field of industrial design, specializing in product development and strategy.
Ray Klein attended Illinois Central College from 1992 to 1994, where they studied graphic design. Following this, from 1994 to 1997, they enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design.
