Craig Henningsen has held various roles in the engineering industry since 1989. Their first role was as a Product Designer for Ritchie Industries from 1989-1995. Craig then moved on to a similar role as a Product Designer for Unverferth Manufacturing Co., Inc. from 1995-1997. In 1997, they became a Project Manager for Blackhawk Engineering. From 2002-2003, they were the Owner of Craig Henningsen Drafting & Design Service, where they did part-time drafting and design projects using 3D modeling with SolidWorks. In 2003, they became a Senior Designer for TDS Automation, where they did special machine design using SolidWorks, Pro Engineer and Access, as well as sales support and concept design using SolidWorks and Power Point. From 2005-2014, they worked as a Design Engineer Manager and Design Engineer for Geater Machining and Manufacturing, Co., where they designed fixtures, tooling and automation using Solidworks, created quality control plans for machined parts, and quoted and created work orders. Since 2014, they have been an Instructor/Consultant at Hawkeye Community College.

Craig Henningsen attended Grundy Center High School from 1975 to 1987. Craig then went on to Iowa Lakes Community College from 1987 to 1989, where they obtained an Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design. Additionally, they have a certification from the Dale Carnegie Course: Skills for Success.
