Matthew Newsome has over 30 years of experience as a mechanical engineer, starting their career at Coleman Research Group from 1991 to 1997, where they modeled missile vibration and other mechanical anomalies. Matthew worked at Nichols Research Corporation from 1997 to 2000, where they focused on simulation work using Joint Modeling and Simulation System (JMASS) platform for many player engagements. Matthew worked at TYBRIN Corporation from 2000 to 2001, where they were a Mechanical Engineer Scientist and worked on range safety engineering duties, including developing aerodynamic modeling techniques for Flight Termination System Debris Modeling. From 2001 to 2006, they worked at the 3D Research, where they directed contractor support to the STEPAL LAB on Government GMD/ MDA/ NASA projects and helped create ODAT (Orbital Debris analysis Tool). From 2006 to 2011, they worked at Applied Analytical Solutions Inc., where they continued to provide contractor support to the STEPAL lab and worked on flight test planning and performance analysis. From 2012 to 2014, they worked as a Senior Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman Corporation where they worked on simulation development. Finally, from 2014 to 2015, Matthew worked at HTSI as a Sr. Systems Engineer, where they assessed key test points and conditions for red-on-blue engagement scenarios. In 2015, they joined GaN (Geeks and Nerds) Corporation as a Senior Systems Engineer.
Matthew Newsome attended The University of Alabama in Huntsville from 1988 to 1994. During this time, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Matthew also studied Aerospace within the same field of study but did not earn a degree in this area.
