Lun Yuen has a comprehensive and diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Lun started their career at Intuit in 1988 as a Software Engineer, where they worked on various projects, including the development of different versions of Quicken. During their time at Intuit, they also served as a Project Manager, overseeing international versions of QuickBooks and managing the development of a shared printing library.
In 1996, Lun Yuen co-founded Career Central, a startup in which they played a management and executive role. Lun successfully raised $35 million in funding and grew the user base to 300,000 users. Lun personally managed the engineering team from the startup's inception until 2000.
Following their entrepreneurial venture, Lun Yuen joined PayCycle in 2001 as a Senior Software Engineer. Lun participated in the development of various features in a cross-functional development environment. Lun later took on the role of Senior Director of Engineering, where they managed the engineering department and oversaw the growth of the company's online payroll customer base from 3,000 to 80,000. During their tenure at PayCycle, they also evaluated technologies and implemented prototypes.
In 2009, Lun Yuen returned to Intuit as a Principal Software Engineer. Lun worked in small cross-functional teams on greenfield projects, starting from initial concepts and developing them into fully functional prototypes for market feasibility testing.
In 2011, Lun Yuen transitioned to working as a Consultant and Entrepreneur. Lun took on consulting roles for various projects, including working as an initial architect for a healthcare startup called NiN Healthcare and developing mobile apps with server backends. Lun also worked on projects such as a social word game and a system of RF tags tracked by iPhone plus dongle.
In 2015, Lun Yuen once again joined Intuit as a Principal Software Engineer. Lun worked closely with senior management and technical team members on the design and execution of the divestiture of Quicken Inc. from Intuit. This involved making decisions regarding the creation of a new cloud infrastructure and migrating users to the new platform.
After leaving Intuit in 2016, Lun Yuen joined Quicken Inc. as a Principal Software Engineer. Lun played a crucial role in the divestiture from Intuit and assisted with divestiture-related activities, particularly in the e-commerce area. Lun also worked with the mobile team to introduce React Native as a cross-platform solution for Quicken's mobile offering.
Most recently, in 2018, Lun Yuen joined Geeq as the Chief Architect.
Lun Yuen pursued their education starting in 1981 at UC Santa Cruz, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics between 1981 and 1983. Lun then moved on to UC Berkeley College of Engineering, where they studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and completed their Bachelor of Science degree between 1983 and 1985. Following that, Lun Yuen attended Stanford University from 1986 to 1988, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.
