David Armstrong is the current Clinical Advisor at GelSana Therapeutics. David has dedicated their career to amputation prevention, wound healing, diabetic foot, biotechnology, sensors and the intersection between medical devices and consumer electronics.
Previously, they served as the University Distinguished Outreach Professor of Surgery and Director of SALSA at the University of Southern California. There, they were dedicated to amputation prevention, wound healing, diabetic foot, biotechnology and its intersection with personal tech, lifelogging and the quantified self.
Before that, they were a Physician Researcher at the VA Medical Center in Southern Arizona from January 2000 to December 2004. Prior to that, they were the Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio from January 1995 to December 2000.
After completing their undergraduate studies at Occidental College, David Armstrong attended the Dunn School for a brief period of time before enrolling at the University of Manchester. There, they earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in medicine. David then went on to complete a Master of Science (MS) in tissue repair and wound healing at Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd. Following that, they pursued a degree in podiatry at Samuel Merritt University and California College of Podiatric Medicine. David concluded their academic career with a second Master of Science (MSc) in tissue repair and wound healing from the University of Wales, Cardiff.
