Mike Brown is a mining executive with over 30 years of experience in the industry. Mike currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at Gem Diamonds, and has previously held positions at Namdeb, Palaris, Nevada Copper, and Debswana.
Brown began their career in 1986 as a mine overseer at Anglo American. Mike was promoted to section manager at De Beers in 1990 and then to mining manager at Debswana in 1995. Mike left Debswana in 1996 to become mine manager at Namdeb, where they oversaw operations at four production plants. Mike left Namdeb in 2002 to become Chief Operating Officer at DBCM.
Brown has been involved in various expansion projects throughout their career, most notably leading the Namdeb Production expansion study which extended the life of the mine by 10 years. Mike has also served on the board of directors for Nevada Copper and GEM Diamonds.
Mike Brown attended the London Business School where they completed the SEP61- 2007 Strategic Executive Program in Business management. Mike also attended the Global Executive Development Program at GIBS in Enterprise Management. Mike has a B.Sc. Eng. With Honours from the University of the Witwatersrand in Mining Engineering and is certified from the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Engineer Pr.Eng.
