Margreet Overmeen-Bakhuis serves as Wethouder for Jeugdzorg, Kunst en Cultuur, Duurzaamheid, Afval, Plattelandsontwikkeling, Water en riolering, Dienstverlening, Facilitaire zaken en ICT, and Programma Klimaat en Milieu at Gemeente Almelo since April 2023, also acting as wijkwethouder for Windmolenbroek, Wierdense hoek, and De Riet. With extensive experience in various managerial and advisory roles, Margreet has held numerous (bestuurlijke) nevenfuncties, including Chair of Stichting Culture Kitchen since 2022 and a coaching role for emerging politicians from 2015 to 2020. Previously, Margreet was Wethouder at Gemeente Hellendoorn, managing spatial planning and economic sectors, and played a pivotal role in initiatives such as establishing a new social work company and promoting inclusivity in the labor market. Additional earlier roles include educational advisor and interim manager at MOB Onderwijs Advies, involvement in Hogeschool Wageningen's Board, and contributions to higher education quality policy at the Vereniging Hogescholen. Margreet holds a Master's degree in Applied Educational Science from the University of Twente and completed VWO at Christelijk Lyceum Almelo.
