Rene Groen

Rene Groen currently serves as Gemeentesecretaris and algemeen directeur at Gemeente Amersfoort since September 2025. Previously, Rene Groen held the same title at Gemeente Ede from February 2020 to August 2025, providing strategic advice to the College van B&W and overseeing an organization of 1,000 employees. From July 2010 to January 2020, Rene Groen was Directeur Ruimte at Gemeente Utrecht, responsible for political and administrative advising, external representation for spatial development, mobility, and sustainability. Additionally, Rene Groen has experience as Directeur Werk en Inkomen, Transitiemanager Sociale Zaken & Werkgelegenheid, and Directeur Stadsbestuurscentrum a.i. at Gemeente Dordrecht between November 2005 and June 2010. Rene Groen holds a Master of Public Administration from Wagner & Company and the Nederlandse School voor Openbaar Bestuur (NSOB), and a Drs in Bestuurskunde from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
