Jan Kees Oppelaar

Jan Kees Oppelaar is an experienced political leader and strategist currently serving as Wethouder (PvdA) for Wonen, buurt- en wijkontwikkeling, ruimte, werk en inkomen, and armoedebeleid at Gemeente Gouda since July 2022, and a member of the Gemeenteraad Gouda. Previously, Jan Kees held the position of Senior adviseur strategie en beleidsontwikkeling at the Ministerie van Justitie en Veiligheid from January 2022 to June 2023, and served as a political advisor for PvdA between August 2018 and August 2021. Additional experience includes team management roles with Budget Energie and Vitens, and a leadership position in the consumer contact and social media team at Triodos Bank. Jan Kees holds a Master's degree in Internationale betrekkingen from Utrecht University and a Bachelor's degree in Geschiedenis from the same institution, alongside additional leadership training and knowledge in education.
