Graeme Barker is an accomplished professional in the field of engineering and education, currently serving as the Centre Manager and Engineering Lead at Gen2 since May 2023. Gen2

Gen2 was established in 2000 and specialises in the Engineering, Nuclear, and Manufacturing sectors. In May 2017 Gen2 joined City & Guilds. Gen2 currently operates from 5 training centres across Cumbria, has over 150 employees and continues to grow its geographic and product portfolio. The quality of teaching and learning is paramount, resulting in success rates typically 20% above the national average. We work with 300 national and international clients delivering training programmes from L2 traineeships to L6 degree apprenticeships. Gen2 has 1,450 Apprentices in learning including 300 HE students and delivers c.10,000 delegates days of short course training p/a. Our ethos focuses on providing high quality employer and learner responsive training and educational programmes. We work with over 350 employers at any one time and in the last seventeen years, over 3,500 apprentices have been trained by Gen2, with 92.5% of them progressing into full-time employment with their employer once training has been completed. We currently have in learning over 13,50 Apprentices, 300 Adult learners, 350 Higher Education learners and deliver in excess of 10,000 delegate days on short courses at fice training centres across Cumbria at; Energus, Lillyhall, Sellafield, Carlisle and Furness. We are committed to increasing skills levels and reducing skills gaps in the population from level 2 to 6 through apprenticeships and adult training and higher education routes. Gen2 offers a wide range of learning and development opportunities, which respond to socio-economic, employer, sector and regeneration needs. Gen2 actively supports the creation of sustainable employment through high quality apprentice, adult and higher education training.
