Lex Flagel

Lex Flagel has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and genetics. Currently, Lex holds the position of Staff Data Scientist at Gencove since June 2021. Prior to this role, Lex worked as an Adjunct Faculty at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities starting in 2014.

Lex's experience in genetic research includes roles at Bayer Crop Science and Monsanto Company. At Bayer Crop Science, Lex served as the Genetic Discovery Lead from February 2019 to May 2021, and as the Quantitative Genetics Team Lead from August 2018 to February 2019. Prior to that, at Monsanto Company, Lex was the Quantitative Genetics Team Lead from August 2015 to August 2018 and a Genomic Scientist from 2012 to 2015.

Lex began their professional journey as an NIH NRSA Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University in 2009, where they were involved in research until 2012.

Lex Flagel attended the University of Minnesota from 1998 to 2003, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Agronomy and Crop Science. They then went on to pursue further education at Iowa State University from 2003 to 2009, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Genetics.
