Edgar Rios

Edgar Rios is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in medical imaging and artificial intelligence. Currently serving as a Senior Scientist AI at Genentech since October 2020, Rios has previously held positions as Scientist AI and Associate Scientist within the same company. Prior to this, Rios was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University, focusing on deep learning frameworks for MRI segmentation and the clinical application of medical AI research from July 2018 to September 2020. Rios's research background includes significant contributions during a doctoral program at the University of California, Los Angeles, where automated machine learning models for brain tumor analysis were developed, along with a large-scale patient assessment database. Rios has also participated in research roles at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare and Hospital Médica Sur, contributing to machine learning model development and outcome prediction in medical applications. Rios holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and a Master's Degree in Medical Imaging Informatics from UCLA, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey.
