Maria Wilson is an experienced strategic leader and drug discovery professional currently serving as the Executive Director and Cardiovascular Metabolism TA head at Genentech since 2025. With a strong track record in leading discovery and development teams for therapeutics in immunology, cardiovascular, and metabolic diseases, they have managed multidisciplinary projects throughout the drug development pipeline. Previously, Maria held various leadership positions at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, including Director of Global Therapeutic Area Strategy and Global Program Leader, after serving as a Principal Scientist at Takeda California. Maria began their career as a postdoctoral researcher at UCSF, focusing on pancreatic islet development. They earned a PhD from the University of Aberdeen in 1996.
